The sensitivity is up to 2 x higher compared to ethidium bromide, so that quantities from approx. 0.3 ng DNA can be detected. The staining solution is added directly to the gel and the running buffer, so there is no need to decolourise after electrophoresis; this saves valuable time. The excitation of the RedGel DNA/RNA Stain is done with UV light of the wavelength 312 - 365 nm, the detection under the same conditions as with ethidium bromide.
