6-Deoxypenciclovir is an inactive metabolite of the antiviral prodrug Famciclovir. 6-Deoxypenciclovir is a good substrate for rabbit hepatic aldehyde oxidase and can be used to synthesize the prodrug form of penciclovir[1].
