Veratraldehyde can be isolated from essential oils of plants such as peppermint and ginger. Veratraldehyde targets the PilY1 protein. Veratraldehyde has antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Veratraldehyde has a repellent effect against mosquitoes and ticks.
