Astacene
Astacene is a major secondary carotenoid that can be extracted from the skin of the goldfish and other species. Astacene is an oxidative artifact of Astaxanthin. Carotenoids are important biological active, and may regulate cellular differentiation, growth control, photooxidative protection, cell membrane stability, photosynthesis, vision process and nutrition[1][2].
