3-Amino-5-hydroxybenzoic acid is a biosynthetic precursor of the mC7N unit of ansamycin antibiotics, including ansatrienin A and geldanamycin, as well as the antitumor antibiotic mitomycin C. 3-Amino-5-hydroxybenzoic acid may be an early intermediate in the shikimic acid pathway from glucose[1][2].
