Human haptoglobin, phenotype 1-1, is a human haptoglobin that is most effective in binding free hemoglobin and inhibiting the inflammatory response associated with free hemoglobin. Human haptoglobin, phenotype 1-1 may prevent vascular complications of diabetes and is associated with sickle cell anemia[1].
