Diatoxanthin
Diatoxanthin is a cytochrome and phycoxanthin byproduct that can be extracted from the algae F. pinnata cells. Diatoxanthin can be used as a biomarker to evaluate the inhibitory effects of biocides on diatom photosystem II (PSII) [1].
