Tagatose is a low-calorie sugar substitute. Tagatose exhibits beneficial effects on postprandial hyperglycaemia and hyperinsulinaemia. Tagatose can induce weight loss and raise high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Tagatose has antioxidant activity. Tagatose can be studied in research on type 2 diabetes and obesity[1].
