Tauromustine is an orally active nitrosourea anticancer agent. Tauromustine has an alkylation effect and can damage the DNA function. Tauromustine has a high therapeutic index, especially in the treatment of Walker 256 rat sarcoma. It is also active against melanoma, breast cancer, pleural mesothelioma and ovarian cancer.
