Jurkat/CCR5 stable cell line

Jurkat/CCR5 cells are derived from the human immortalized T lymphocyte Jurkat cell line by stably integration of a CCR5 constitutive expression construct. Jurkat cells have been used to study acute T cell leukemia, T cell signaling, and the of various chemokine receptors susceptible to viral entry, particularly HIV. Chemokine receptors CCR5 regulates crucial processes like leukocyte migration and whose malfunctioning is associated with cancer, immune and neurodegenerative diseases. Furthermore, CCR5 plays a key role in the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infection, acting as the first recognition site for the virus on the host cell surface. Jurkat/CCR5 cells stably express CCR5, can be used in cancer research and HIV studies, as well as drug development.
