Diamine oxidase

Diamine oxidase (DAO) is a copper- and pyridoxal phosphate-containing enzyme with oral activity. Diamine oxidase primarily catalyzes the oxidative deamination of diamines such as histamine and putrescine. Diamine oxidase is a regulatory enzyme in rapidly proliferating tissues such as bone marrow and intestinal mucosa, providing protection. Diamine oxidase can alleviate symptoms associated with histamine intolerance. Diamine oxidase can be used in research on diseases of the digestive system and other related conditions[1][2].
