Glutaraldehyde solution, 50% in H2O, is a solution consisting of 50% glutaraldehyde in water, often employed for cell fixation in staining experiments. Glutaraldehyde forms covalent bonds with nucleophilic groups such as amino and thiol groups in proteins, leading to irreversible cross-linking of intracellular proteins and effectively fixing cells. It stabilizes cell morphology and structure, facilitating subsequent observation and research.
