MEL-A is a glycolipid biosurfactant produced by Pseudozyma from vegetable oils. It enhances the low-temperature fluidity of biodiesel and hydrocarbon fuels. Comprising a mix of MEL-A isomers with varying fatty acid chain lengths, MEL-A significantly boosts gene transfection via membrane fusion using cationic liposomes.
