Aphidicolin 17-acetate is a selective inhibitor of eukaryotic DNA polymerase ? (DNA polymerase?) that does not inhibit DNA polymerases ? and ?. It significantly suppresses DNA synthesis in sea urchin embryos and HeLa cells in vivo without affecting RNA and protein synthesis.
