Pyrogallol-phloroglucinol-6,6-bieckol (PPB) is a bioactive phlorotannin compound isolated from the brown alga Ecklonia cava that exerts potent anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic activities by inhibiting monocyte migration and macrophage differentiation toward inflammatory phenotypes. Pyrogallol-phloroglucinol-6,6-bieckol reduces monocyte-induced endothelial cell death and suppresses vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation and migration, contributing to vascular protection and potential therapeutic modulation of inflammatory vascular diseases.
