(Z) -Non-2-enyl 6-bromohexanoate is an analogue of biotin and acts as a protein cross-linker. It exhibits weak binding to biotin-binding proteins (such as avidin) and can be easily displaced by biotin. This compound is used in the preparation of agarose matrices for the affinity-based separation of streptavidin-fluorophore conjugates.
