M-PEG-thiol (MW 1000) is utilized for the thiolation of DNA and is essential in the synthesis of gold nanorods (AuNR) . Using an mPEG-SH/Tween 20-assisted method, where Tween 20 and mPEG-SH repeatedly displace CTAB on the AuNR surface, thiolated DNA can be loaded onto AuNR. DNA AuNRs have been widely applied in nanostructure assembly, gene therapy, biosensing, and drug delivery.
