JJC8-089, a dopamine transporter (DAT) inhibitor, might enhance motivation-related dysfunctions by increasing effortful behavior in goal-oriented activities. This compound significantly counteracted the low-effort effects induced in rats by the VMAT-2 inhibitor Tetrabenazine, and elevated the selection of high-effort fixed ratio 5 lever presses associated with food intake.
