3?-Azido-2?,3?-dideoxy-CTP (AZddCTP) is a cytidine analogue containing a 3-azido group. It functions as a chain terminator when incorporated into nascent DNA strands by HIV reverse transcriptase, effectively inhibiting DNA synthesis due to the absence of a 3'-hydroxyl group, thereby blocking viral replication. The IC50 for WTHIV is 15.6 ?M, and for AZTRHIV, it is 160.8 ?M. This compound exhibits antiviral activity.
