Background
Junctophilin 2, also known as JPH2, is a member of the junctophilin gene family (the other members of the family areHYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPH1" \o "JPH1"JPH1, HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPH3" \o "JPH3"JPH3, andHYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=JPH4&action=edit&redlink=1" \o "JPH4 (page does not exist) "JPH4), located between the plasma membrane (PM) and endoplasmic/sarcoplasmic reticulum (ER/SR) . It is the predominant isoform in cardiac tissue, and also expressed with JPH1 in skeletal muscle.HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPH2" \l "cite_note-3"[1]JPH2 has been shown to be downregulated in several animal models of heart failure.
