Recombinant human Calcipressin-1/DSCR1 protein
The Down's syndrome candidate region 1 (DSCR1) protein, encoded by a gene located in the human chromosome 21, interacts with calcineurin and is overexpressed in Down's syndrome patients. DSCR1 Inhibits calcineurin-dependent transcriptional responses by binding to the catalytic domain of calcineurin A, possibly affecting central nervous system development. DSCR isoform b is shorter at the N-terminus compared to isoform a. Recombinant human DSCR1 was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
