Recombinant human LBP protein
LBP, also known as Lipopolysaccharide-binding protein, is a glycoprotein member of the BPI/LBP family of lipid-binding proteins. LBP is a glycoprotein that is synthesized principally by hepatocytes. It binds to the lipid A moiety of bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), a glycolipid present in the outer membrane of all Gram-negative bacteria. It binds to LPS to elicit immune responses by presenting the LPS to important cell surface pattern recognition receptors called CD14 and TLR4. Recombinant human LBP, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in HEK293 cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
