Recombinant human MMP-9 protein
MMP9, also known matrix metalloproteinase-9, is one of the matrix metalloproteinases superfamily which is zinc and calcium dependent endopeptidases with the combined ability to degrade all the components of the extracellular matrix. It degrades many substrates such as gelatin, collagens, elastin and proteoglycan core protein which appears to be involved in invasive ability. This protein also plays an essential role in leukocyte migration and in bone osteoclastic resorption. It plays an important role in angiogenesis and neovascularization and so appears to be involved in the remodeling associated with malignant glioma neovascularization. Recombinant human MMP9 protein, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
