Recombinant human MDL-1/CLEC5A protein
CLEC5A, also known as C-type lectin domain family 5 member A isoform 1, is a member of the CTL/CTLD superfamily that have diverse functions, such as cell adhesion, cell-cell signalling, glycoprotein turnover, and roles in inflammation and immune response. It functions as a cell attachment receptor for all four serotypes of Dengue virus as well as Japanese encephalitis virus. The binding of dengue virus to CLEC5A triggers signaling through the phosphylation of TYROBP, this interaction does not result in viral entry, but stimulates proinflammatory cytokine release. This protein acts as a positive regulator of osteoclastogenesis and a key regulator of synovial injury and bone erosion during autoimmune joint inflammation. Recombinant human CLEC5A protein, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
