Recombinant human MGAT2 protein
MGAT2, also known as alpha-1, 6-mannosyl-glycoprotein 2-beta-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase, is a single-pass type 2 membrane protein. It has the typical glycosyltransferase domains that composes a short N-terminal cytoplasmic domain, a hydrophobic non-cleavable signal-anchor domain, and a C-terminal catalytic domain. This protein catalyzes an essential step in the conversion of oligo-mannose to complex N-glycans. Sometimes mutations in this gene may lead to carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome, type II. Recombinant human MGAT2, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
