Recombinant human TBCC protein
TBCC (tubulin folding cofactor C) belongs to the TBCC family. It is plays a role in the regulation of centrosome and Golgi apparatus positioning, with consequences on cell shape and cell migration. Cofactor C is one of four proteins (cofactors A, D, E and C) involved in the pathway leading to correctly folded b-tubulin from folding intermediates. Cofactors A and D are believed to play a role in capturing and stabilizing b-tubulin intermediates in a quasi-native confirmation. Cofactor E binds to the cofactor D/b-tubulin complex; interaction with cofactor C then causes the release of b-tubulin polypeptides. Recombinant human TBCC protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
