Recombinant human 4E-BP2/EIF4EBP2 protein
EIF4EBP2 is a member of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E binding protein family. This protein binds eIF4E and inhibits translation initiation. However, insulin and other growth factors can release this inhibition via a phosphorylation-dependent disruption of their binding to eIF4E. It mediates the regulation of protein translation by hormones, growth factors and other stimuli that signal through the MAP kinase pathway. Regulation of this protein has been implicated in cell proliferation, cell differentiation and viral infection. Recombinant human EIF4EBP2 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
