Recombinant human Gamma-glutamylcyclotransferase/GGCT protein
GGCT, also known as gamma-glutamylcyclotransferase, belongs to the family of transferases, specifically the aminoacyltransferases. This protein catalyzes the formation of 5-oxoproline from gamma-glutamyl dipeptides and may play a significant role in glutathione homeostasis. GGCT induces release of cytochrome c from mitochondria with resultant induction of apoptosis. Recombinant human GGCT protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
