Recombinant human 17 beta-HSD11/HSD17B11 protein
HSD17B11, also known as DHRS8 (dehydrogenase/reductase SDR family member 8), belongs to the HSD17B family of proteins, which regulate the availability of steroids within various tissues throughout the body. It is widely expressed with highest levels found in retina, pancreas, kidney, liver, lung, adrenal, small intestine, ovary and heart as well as in steroidogenic cells. This protein converts androstan-3-alpha, 17-beta-diol (3-alpha-diol) to androsterone, suggesting it may participate in androgen metabolism during steroidogenesis. Recombinant human HSD17B11 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
