Recombinant human UDP-galactose-4-epimerase/GALE protein

GALE, also known as uDP-glucose 4-epimeraes, is a protein that functions as the third enzyme in the Leloir pathway of galactose metabolism. It is a homodimeric epimerase found in bacterial, plant, and mammalian cells. This enzyme promotes the reverse chemical reaction, the conversion of uDP-glucose to uDP-galactose. uDP-galactose is used to build galactose-containing proteins and fats, which play critical roles in chemical signaling, building cellular structures, transporting molecules, and producing energy. Recombinant human GALE protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
