Recombinant human Smad2 protein
SMAD2 (Mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 2) belongs to the SMAD family of proteins that mediate signal transduction by the TGF-beta/activin/BMP-2/4 cytokine superfamily from receptor Ser/Thr protein kinases at the cell surface to the nucleus. Phosphorylated Smad2 is then able to form a complex with Smad4 or SARA. These complexes accumulate in the cell nucleus, where they are directly participating in the regulation of gene expression. Recombinant SMAD2 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
