The FGFBP3 protein is a heparin-binding protein that complexly regulates fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) dynamics. By forming a binding complex with FGF2, it blocks heparin binding of FGF2 and may limit its anchoring to extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycans.
