ABCE1 is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. It is alternatively referred to as the RNase L inhibitor as it functions to block the activity of ribonuclease L (referenced from entrez gene) .
