Background
Yellow leaf disease of sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) is an important and widely spread disease causing severe yield losses, ranging from 20 to 40 % in susceptible cultivars. It is an emerging viral disease whose causal agent is a Polerovirus, the Sugarcane yellow leaf virus (SCYLV) transmitted by aphids.
