Uniquely associated with Birbeck granules, Langerin mediates efficient antigen internalization and processing, thereby enabling LCs to initiate adaptive immune responses and restrict certain infections. Its distinct expression also serves as a key diagnostic marker for Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) .
