Biotinylated Human Langerin Protein, Avitag™, His Tag
Langerin (CD207) is a crucial C-type lectin receptor (CLR) primarily expressed by Langerhans cells (LCs) in the epidermis. It functions as a pattern recognition receptor (PRR), utilizing its extracellular domain to specifically bind carbohydrate structures on pathogens (e.g., mannose, fucose) . Uniquely associated with Birbeck granules, Langerin mediates efficient antigen internalization and processing, thereby enabling LCs to initiate adaptive immune responses and restrict certain infections. Its distinct expression also serves as a key diagnostic marker for Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) .
