Our chicken Anti-GAD65/67 recombinant monoclonal antibody is a chimeric antibody derived from NeuroMab clone L127/12. It detects human, mouse, and rat GAD65/67, and is purified by affinity chromatography. It is great for use in IHC, ICC, WB.

Background

There are two forms of the enzyme glutamic-acid decarboxylase (GAD), a 65-kDa form (GAD65) and a 67-kDa form (GAD67) which are the result of the expression of different genes. Further splicing of GAD 67 produces one or two smaller variants, including GAD25 and GAD44. GAD67 and GAD65 are expressed in adult brain and the pancreas. The truncated forms GAD25 and GAD44 are expressed during embryonic development. Glutamic acid decarboxylase enzyme functions to catalyze the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid.

This recombinant antibody is a chimeric antibody created by replacing the mouse heavy and light constant regions of clone L127/12 with chicken IgY heavy and light constant regions. As such this antibody retains the same binding performance as the original clone L127/12 but can be detected using standard anti-chicken secondary antibodies allowing flexibility for multiplexing applications. This antibody is expressed recombinantly in mammalian cells and then affinity purified from the cell culture media.
