Target Background

Mycoplasma bovis is the most pathogenic bovine mycoplasma in Europe and North America, causing bovine pneumonia, mastitis, arthritis, genital disorders, and abortion and results in huge economic losses in cattle and milk production. Loss due to M. bovis mastitis is estimated to be $108 million per year. Mycoplasma bovis was first isolated in the US from the milk of a mastitic cow.
