Background

CCL4 belongs to the CC chemokine family and is commonly known as MIP-1β. There are at least 27 distinct members of the C-C subgroup reported for mammals. They are characterized by two adjacent cysteines. CC chemokines induce the migration of monocytes and other cell types such as NK cells and dendritic cells. CCL4 is a chemoattractant for natural killer cells, monocytes and a variety of other immune cells.
