Itraconazole is a triazole antifungal agent used to increase fungal cell membrane permeability by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis, ultimately leading to fungal cell death. They are tested against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria using panels, discs, and MIC strips by medical microbiologists.
