Caspase-6 is one of the major executioner caspases functioning in cellular apoptotic processes. Involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Cleaves poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase in vitro, as well as lamins. Overexpression promotes programmed cell death.
