Galectin-1 Antibody

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Galectin 1 may act as an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation. It also may regulate cell apoptosis and cell differentiation. It binds beta-galactoside, CD45, CD3 and CD4. Galectin 1 inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. It is found in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney, placenta and hematopoietic cells.

Produced from sera of rabbits pre-immunized with highly pure (>98%) recombinant hGalectin-1. Human Galectin-1 specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing immobilized hGalectin-1 matrix.

Galectin-1 antibody is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20˚ C. The reconstituted antibody is stable for at least two weeks at 2-8˚ C. Frozen aliquots are stable for at least 6 months when stored at -20˚ C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
