ICAD Antibody
Product Specifications
Background
During apoptosis, toxic or useless cells are broken down for removal. DFF, or DNA fragmentation factor, is a heterodimeric protein which mediates DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation during apoptosis. DFFB is the active DFF subunit but remains inactive while bound to DFFA, also call ICAD (Inhibitor of caspase-activated DNase) . Caspase-3 cleaves ICAD, which then disassociates from DFFB. The disassociation removes the inhibitory effects of ICAD, activating DFFB and beginning the DNA fragmentation process.
