Survivin Antibody
Product Specifications
Background
Survivin, also called BIRC5, is a protein encoded by the human BIRC5 gene. It is a member of the IAP (inhibitor of apoptosis family. Survivin binds to the active form of Caspase-3 and -7, effector or executioner caspases, preventing them from continuing the apoptosis-signaling cascade. Expression is regulated by p53, a regulator of apoptosis-control genes which interacts with the Survivin gene promoter region to repress its expression at the mRNA and protein level.
