GALT Antibody

Galactose-1-phosphate uridyl transferase (GALT) catalyzes the second step of the Leloir pathway of galactose metabolism, namely the conversion of UDP-glucose + galactose-1-phosphate to glucose-1-phosphate + UDP-galactose. The absence of this enzyme results in classic galactosemia in humans and can be fatal in the newborn period if lactose is not removed from the diet. The pathophysiology of galactosemia has not been clearly defined. For short periods of storage (days) store at 4˚ C. For longer periods of storage, store GALT antibody at -20˚ C. As with any antibody avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.

GALT antibody can be used for detection of GALT by ELISA at 1:1562500. GALT antibody can be used for detection of GALT by western blot at 1 μ g/mL, and HRP conjugated secondary antibody should be diluted 1:50,000 - 100,000.
