GCG Antibody

GCG is actually a preproprotein that is cleaved into four distinct mature peptides. One of these, glucagon, is a pancreatic hormone that counteracts the glucose-lowering action of insulin by stimulating glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Glucagon is a ligand for a specific G-protein linked receptor whose signalling pathway controls cell proliferation. Two of the other peptides are secreted from gut endocrine cells and promote nutrient absorption through distinct mechanisms. For short periods of storage (days) store at 4˚ C. For longer periods of storage, store GCG antibody at -20˚ C. As with any antibody avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.

GCG antibody can be used for detection of GCG by ELISA at 1:62500. GCG antibody can be used for detection of GCG by western blot at 1.25 μ g/mL, and HRP conjugated secondary antibody should be diluted 1:50,000 - 100,000.
