This protein mediates the physiological effects of progesterone, which plays a central role in reproductive events associated with the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy.This gene encodes a member of the steroid receptor superfamily. This gene uses two distinct promotors and translation start sites in the first exon to produce two isoforms, A and B. The two isoforms are identical except for the additional 165 amino acids found in the N-terminus of isoform A only, and mediate their own response genes and physiologic effects with little overlap. For short periods of storage (days) store at 4˚ C. For longer periods of storage, store PGR antibody at -20˚ C. As with any antibody avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.

PGR antibody can be used for detection of PGR by ELISA at 1:62500. PGR antibody can be used for detection of PGR by western blot at 1 μ g/mL, and HRP conjugated secondary antibody should be diluted 1:50,000 - 100,000.
