Zika virus NS1 antigen is one of seven non-structural proteins. NS1 is involved in RNA replication. The possible effects of NS1 on hosts include: localizes to host cell surface and secreted extracellularly, modulates signalling of the innate immune system, has possible damages to platelets and endothelial cells through anti-NS1 antibodies.

A DNA sequence encoding the Zika virus (strain Zika SPH2015) NS1 (ALU33341.1) (Val796-Leu1157) was expressed with a polyhistidine tag at the N-terminus.

The recombinant Zika virus (strain Zika SPH2015) NS1 consists of 381 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 43.5 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 50 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

In general, recombinant proteins are provided as lyophilized powder which are shipped at ambient temperature. Bulk packages of recombinant proteins are provided as frozen liquid. They are shipped out with blue ice unless customers require otherwise. Stable for 1 year at -20°C or below from date of shipment. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and opening the cap. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
