Background

Vasorin is a typical type I membrane protein. It contains 1 EGF-like domain, 1 fibronectin type-III domain, 10 LRR (leucine-rich) repeats, 1 LRRCT domain and 1 LRRNT domain. Vasorin is predominantly expressed in vascular smooth muscle cells, and that its expression is developmentally regulated. vasorin It directly binds to transforming growth factor (TGF) -β and attenuates TGF-β signaling in vitro. This suggests that down-regulation of vasorin expression contributes to neointimal formation after vascular injury and that vasorin modulates cellular responses to pathological stimuli in the vessel wall.

Molecular Weight

The recombinant human VASN consists of 563 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 61.1 KDa. It migrates as an approximately 66-76 KDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

Storage Conditions

In general, recombinant proteins are provided as lyophilized powder which are shipped at ambient temperature. Bulk packages of recombinant proteins are provided as frozen liquid. They are shipped out with blue ice unless customers require otherwise. Stable for 1 year at -20°C or below from date of shipment. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and opening the cap. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
