PFDN2 Protein, Human, Recombinant (His Tag)

PFD2, also known as PFDN2, belongs to the prefoldin beta subunit family. PFD2 is one of six subunits of prefoldin, a molecular chaperone complex that binds and stabilizes newly synthesized polypeptides, thereby allowing them to fold correctly. The complex, consisting of two alpha and four beta subunits, forms a double beta barrel assembly with six protruding coiled-coils. PFD2 binds specifically to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN) and transfers target proteins to it. PFD2 also binds to a nascent polypeptide chain and promotes folding in a setting in which there are many competing pathways for nonnative proteins.

When a recombinant protein is an enzyme, specific activity is derived from an enzymatic assay. Each enzyme is tested for potency by cleavage of a substrate. The recombinant human PFDN2 consists of 169 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 18.5 KDa. It migrates as an approximately 18-20 KDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

In general, recombinant proteins are provided as lyophilized powder which are shipped at ambient temperature. Bulk packages of recombinant proteins are provided as frozen liquid. They are shipped out with blue ice unless customers require otherwise. Stable for 1 year at -20°C or below from date of shipment. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and opening the cap. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
